2015. Reclining Nude
There we were looking at the most beautiful sunset ever painted; yet all I could focus on was a sea of red.

A poplar floorboard lined the parameter of the exhibition Reclining Nude, Sitting Fruit. The floorboard was painted in watercolour, as were all the artist-frames on the canvas works. The colour of the floorboard was mixed to match a description of the First Impressionist Exhibition in Paris in 1874, which is described the surfaces where the paintings hung in the room rented by Gustave Caillebotte as “reddish-brown flocked walls.” Paintings in this exhibition were hung in just two rows, in protest to the practices of “seeking” art, and hung in a private bourgeois apartment, rented for the month of the exhibition.
