The method in which I draw is contingent on the process of inscription, wherein I repeat lines to build the surface of the paper in order to create the illusion of an image. As such, representational drawing poses a conceptual paradigm wherein it can be understood as both a presentation of what can be, as well as a representation of what was. Understanding drawing as a dualism allows my work to situate itself in a space of re-evaluation, functioning as a supplement to its own citations. Unable to function as presentation or representation, fiction or non-fiction, the work is left to exist in a middle ground wherein artistic concepts, techniques and histories can be reassembled.
